Drummer's Creed Poster

Drummer's Creed

This is my drum. There are others like it, but this one is mine.

My drum is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life.

My drum without me is useless. Without my drum I am useless.

I must live each day to be better than I was yesterday.

I must play my drum with proper technique.

I am responsible for rhythmic accuracy and timing. I will not rush. I will not drag. I will keep tempo true for my family around me.

I will always pursue greatness to achieve peak mental and Physical performance.

I make many sacrifices to ensure nothing stands in the way of sharpening my craft.

I strive for consistency and treat each rep as an opportunity to bring me closer to my end goal.

I am athletic, My actions are proactive, and I move with a purpose.

I hold myself to a higher standard every day and take pride in my rehearsal etiquette.

I understand it is my duty to pass on these traits for future generations so the culture may thrive.

Diving Deeper

Inspired by the Marines Rifle Creed, The "Drummer's Creed" is for those who truly live the Get Better Lifestyle. For some, drumming is just a hobby, for others, drumming is a way of life, a code of ethics, and a vehicle for developing personal and professional greatness.

This creed was written specifically for the marching performer. The great educators in the field of drumline not only teach music, but develop leaders, and the respect put into the process is one of the most important parts of being a great performer.

So use this creed as a mantra to keep you focused. If you want to truly reach your goals, you have to go all in and dedicate this chapter of your life to sharpening your craft. Hold yourself to a higher standard, and don't forget to share your knowledge so future generations may thrive.
