MAKE TIME FOR SOCIAL INTERACTIONS
You might not think this one is important, but you have to make time to mingle with friends and even strangers. For example, I just went to a bar and chatted with a local downtown. It was really cool to hear different ideas and disciplines from someone outside of studio. I actually used the ideas we talked about in my current project and it went over very well. Architecture is about people, so make sure you continue to sharpen your craft by surrounding yourself with a variety of them.
WHAT?! Shouldn't I be practicing ALL OF THE TIME 24/7 and be living a lifestyle of greatness?! Yes, you should be practicing all of the time, but there should be times in your life where you step away from your craft. ⠀
⠀
Making time for social interactions can actually HELP you perform better. Not directly, unless you're slamming down some triple beat during a party, but your interactions with other people outside of practicing can give you some perspective and will help rejuvenate your mind for the next practice session. Of course you don't want to over-do this, but with anything in life, finding the balance that works for you can help you grow as a person and gain experiences.⠀
⠀
At the end of the day, we are all human, and it is human nature to get tired or unmotivated if we do the same thing over and over again. So make time for social interactions within your busy life. You might be surprised what you can learn from a completely unrelated conversation with someone you just met.
